Yesterday was the seeding round for the finals tournament in the 10&U ACSIS Tournament. Both teams really stepped up and gave extra effort for finals time. Next week we are back at SJII for another 2 seeding games before our final playoff game. Come along and support the boys in their search for the championship!
Below you can see the results for the 4th round of matches in the 10&U ACSIS Soccer league. Next week we begin the seeding tournament for the finals at SJII.
Unfortunately due to bad weather we were unable to complete all of the fixtures for Match Day 3 of the ACSIS 10&U League. When the thunder & lightning came, ISS A had completed two matches and were into their third match and ISS B had played one match and were beginning their second.
This was actually a stroke of luck for ISS as we were very light on numbers due to injuries and sickness. Both teams were battling hard with 6 players against 7.
The league continues in 2013 with the first match on Tuesday 22nd January.

For our final round of matches we travelled back to SJII, the site of our previous success in the ACSIS 9&U League. The boys were ready right from the start and in our first match against UWC Dover we kept the ball in our attacking zone for almost the entire match. We peppered the goal and although it look like we wouldn't score finally Kohju scored with the easiest of tap ins after the goal keeper struggled to hold onto Hugo's shot. We continued to dominate possession and in the dying stages Kohju scored again to make the final score 2-0.
Next up we faced Dover Court and in a hard fought match we went down 1-0 early on and just couldn't find a goal to equalize.
In our third match we faced the home team SJII, a team who we were yet to beat all season. It was a gripping encounter and both teams battled hard in the midfield to win possession. Kohju, who has been switched from attack to defence in this game was as solid as a rock, ably assisted by Ken and Iskander. Late in the second half Kohju picked up the ball deep in defence and went on a weaving run down the win taking on almost the entire SJII team and then shooting from an almost impossible angle and slotting into the top right hand corner! This was by far the goal of the entire season and left everyone in disbelief! The match finished 1-0 and we had our first win against SJII for the season.
Against top of the table Chatsworth we put up a valiant effort, but after a break and some well deserved snacks and drinks, we started on a sugar high and Hugo scored almost instantly after kickoff. Like all good sugar highs, we had a comedown and let in 3 goals to lost the match 3-1. A good effort against a team who has only lost once all season.
In our final match of the day and the season we faced off against SAS and again Hugo found the net to give us a convincing 1-0 victory.
Overall on the day we had 3 wins and 2 draws. A fun and memorable way to finish off the 9&U season. Well done boys!
This week we travelled to Dover Court for Match Day 3 and after our goal scoring success of last week we hoped for a repeat performance. We started against SAS, a team who had beaten us in the past 2 matches. It was a pulsating end to end match and although both teams had good chances, neither was able to score. It finished 0-0. A good result against a tough team.
We had a short break before our next game and we happily got stuck into the cupcakes, chips and drinks provided by our fantastic parents.
Maybe we ate a little too much as in our next match against SJII we got off to a very slow start and were down 2-0 within the first couple of minutes. We fought hard for the rest of the match and had some excellent chances to claw back a a goal.
Heegyu had the best chance of the day and he struck the ball sweetly. It was heading into the goal and the celebration had begun, but he was denied by the super long grass and the ball stopped rolling right on the goal line. From happiness to heartbreak!
This just about summed up the remainder of our day at Dover Court. A 2-0 loss to Chatsworth then a 1-0 loss to Dover Court followed and we were back on the bus and on our way home.
Next week we travel back to SJII, the site of our scoring heroics from last week and we hope that we can rediscover that goalscoring form....
What a difference a week makes in football. After failing to score a goal in our 5 matches last week, we scored 9 goals this week!
We started strongly against Dover Court and Kohju opened the scoring with a fantastic strike after a magnificent run down the wing by Hugo. To the delight of the team and parent supporters, the scoring didn't stop there. Hugo put two more goals in and we came away with our first win of the year!
In our second game against UWC (who we drew 0-0 with last week) the goal bonanza continued. Kohju and Hugo again on the scoresheet for a 2-1 win.
Our third game was against the home team, SJII, and some changes in position left us vulnerable in defence. We quickly went down 3-0 but to the boys credit they fought back hard and nearly snatched a point for a draw. Mael scored with a nutmeg and then Hugo scored another and quickly we were back in the game at 2-3. We had another chance to score to level the game but hit the bar. An unlucky loss!
Our last game was against SAS and although Hugo scored 2 goals it wasn't enough to get us a win, as we went down 3-2.
The boys played so well as a team this week and really showed grit and determination to get 2 wins on the board. Well done to all players and thanks to the parents who came to cheer us along.
Next week we play at Dover Court and we hope to continue with our scoring success!
