Another rainy week which meant more indoor PE. With Sports Day coming soon on September 19th it made it very difficult for us to practice our events.
Because we had operate in limited space Grade's 3-5 used Agility Ladders to work on their running technique and speed. They used a fantastic QR Code resource created by one of Mr Nathan's friends, a teacher from Wisconsin called Mr Pomeroy, to help them work through the agility ladder activities independently.
"What is a QR Code?" I hear you say?
A QR Code is a Quick Response Code, just like a barcode it allows you to scan the code and be taken to another place, website, video quickly and easily. In this activity students scanned the code using an iPad and were shown a video of Mr Pomeroy demonstrating the different agility ladder activities. They then attempted to repeat what they had viewed before moving on to the next activity.
After they had completed a few of the activities students filmed each other taking part in one or two of the activities and saved the videos to their Google Drive folders ready for inputting into their digital portfolios later in the unit.
The younger classes started practicing some of the games that they will take part in during Sports Day. Next week we will post some demonstration videos on the blog so that you can see what to expect for the K1-G1's come Sports Day on the 19th!
That's it for another week in PE at ISS. Let's hope the weather is a little better next week and we can get down onto the field for practice.
Have an active & happy weekend!
